Grandparenting in the Digital Age

Ages: Parents and Grandparents of a child born in 2020 or 2021

In an era of social distancing, how do parents, grandparents, and infants keep in touch with each other? For example, how does your new grandbaby respond when you play peek-a-boo over FaceTime? Participate in this at home study to help us find out.

This research project consists of a few online surveys. You can also choose to participate in recorded video chats between grandparents, their new grandchild, and the child’s parent. For more information, please email videochatproject@georgetown.edu, and one of our researchers will contact you.

To take part in this study, you must be in a partnered pair (a parent with child born in 2020 or 2021 and that child’s grandparent). All participants must reside either in the United States or Canada. We are able to provide an e-gift card if you choose to participate ($5 per survey completed and $10 for each video recording, for a total of $55 for each part of the pair if all portions are completed).

This project is being done in collaboration with Dr. Gabrielle Strouse from the University of South Dakota, Dr. Lauren Myers from Lafayette College, and Dr. Jenn Zosh from Penn State Brandywine.
